Darrell & Melissa's Wedding Day

Time flies by so fast and before you know it I realize I have not blogged my special news. I recently had the pleasure of photographing a wedding for a very special couple. Darrell & Melissa were a Bride and Groom I won't forget. They were so funny, so relaxed and simply just happy to have their close friends and family gathered together to share in their joy. Here are a few special moments from their wedding day.

The cake was delicious, but with their great comical personalities I had to enhance the cake topper!

A Bride Sparkles At The Beach

Stunning Bridal Portraits of Sarah

Sarah is a beautiful Bride and a few weeks before her big day to marry her Groom Richard we met at Panama City Beach to take her Bridal Portraits. The waters were vividly colorful, the air crisp and my Bride was radiant!

The wedding set for March 5th on the Atlantic Ocean in Pawley's Isand, SC - many friends and the couple live near there but the reason for having her portraits in PCB was to honor the Brides family roots. Both of her parents grew up in Panama City so it was only right to have both coasts included in her special memories. A bi-coastal Bride!

It was such fun to be with Sarah on this day and the ideas were flowing abundantly for beautiful poses!

The beach seems to be so close to God as His creation for our eyes to behold. A bride simply enhances that beauty and makes the sparkles stronger and more vivid!

We can't have a beach Bride without building a Sandcastle!

Capturing Family Memories

A Day Off

A rare thing for me is a day off from editing or snapping portraits of beautiful smiles, but I actually took a day off yesterday and enjoyed a picnic with my Husband at the lake! This is just simply one of my favorite places we enjoy. I walk around the water, it helps me slow down and breathe enjoying each little part of our earth that God created for us.

Even though I was taking the "day off", I still carried my camera and enjoyed snapping some gorgeous fall shots. The leaves of red, yellow and orange are simply radiant, so vivid you can't miss them! The water was clear, blue, calm and inviting.

After we ate our lunch we were walking and Chuck enjoyed skipping rocks. The water was simply perfect for it! It was nice to see him relax too as he works all the time. He had painted some touchup areas in our home before this plus had clients to attend to as well. He is always busy, always helping others or working.

A "day off" is something everyone needs to enjoy. This day included some quiet time, walking, nature, fun, but also cleaning out cabinets, throwing out old paperwork, decluttering if you will. There is much more to do and I don't mind doing those tasks if I can take a break at the lake!

Get out yourself and enjoy some of the beauty around you. Some people say stop and smell the roses, but my Dad and I like to say we are going to go out and "count the cattle"!

Giving Thanks

It seems everyone has something to be thankful for, actually we all have many things but sometimes we have trouble seeing the positive things and only can see the negative ones. I have always been a positive person, I always have been real, I am what I am. Some people have trouble believing this and I have always wondered why they have to try to discover a different me when I am just me. I have decided I will never know the answer, I can only "guesstimate" an answer. I choose to be positive in my life. Does this mean I never get down or get sad, no as with human nature everyone has down times. I simply choose not to let those become public moments for others to see as it brings them down too. Being positive, being thankful, smiling, singing, playing the piano, sharing, that is what lifts the spirits of myself and everyone else around me! My parents instilled this in me and I am thankful for that. I have much to be thankful for, very much. I have been blessed beyond measure. I have a Husband who loves me just the way I am, I have two grown children that call me everyday and say "I love you", I have a son-n-law that is such a precious young man and a wonderful addition to our family, I have two brothers that treat me with respect and much love, I have so much more than this, extended family, Brothers and Sisters-n-law, Nieces and Nephews, Aunts and Uncles, I have a wonderful Mother-n-law and Father-n-law and my own Mom and Dad that are absolutely the top of the world in my eyes and heart! I also am very thankful to have the opportunity to use my camera to give others a special keepsake for their memory books. I am so thankful for all of these things, but the greatest blessing I have in my life is knowing Jesus Christ, the son of God as my personal savior! He has provided every blessing, planned every event and lined everyday of my life out for me, I just simply follow Him. I hope and pray you all have a very blessed Thanksgiving at your own home with your loved ones around you. Share with someone a smile, then tell the world what you are thankful for. I believe a small amount of positive can create an entire pot full of positives!

Happy Thanksgiving to each of you!

Tender Family Moments

Take a Family, trees full of color, a beautiful historical mill and lake, what do you get with all these things outdoors in Georgia in November? You get the most awesome setting for a loving family to make special memories!

I had a wonderful time capturing the Richmond family at Starrs Mill in Fayette County Georgia. It is a peaceful feeling each time I visit this place, the water fall from the dam splashing loudly and no other sounds around to disturb your thoughts. I can't think of a more perfect spot to have a family memory made and captured! Children may run, parents can focus on spending quality time with their children and enjoy the activities around the water, the falls, the buildings or having a picnic.

The movie "Sweet Home Alabama" had scenes filmed at this place, you may recognize the building as the glass store among other recognizable spots throughout the area. I hope you enjoy seeing this young family as they laughed and played while I snapped away with my camera. I know they'll never forget this beautiful autumn day!

A truly beautiful sunset made the evening perfect to capture Anita & Josh's Engagement portraits at the beach. St. Andrew's State Park at Panama City Beach, FL was the location we chose to use. The waves were gorgeous, the sky was so colorful and the birds were flying all around. This couple are going to have a wonderful life together, they certainly are in love!

Congratulations Toby & Katie

It was Saturday, the 18th day of September, the day that Katie & Toby became Husband and Wife. I was so honored to capture their special day for them as their photographer. Katie was one of the most beautiful Brides I have seen and she certainly was marrying a Prince!

The Church was decorated with ferns, columns, flowers stating the new life to begin! Vibrant autumn colors adorned the sanctuary and the Bridal party.

The cake was deliciously beautiful in the reception hall with all the candles, fountains and guests.

The Happy Couple, Amy & Clint

A beautiful Bride & Groom with a very special love for one another. I loved taking the photographs for this couple. The ceremony was so personal filled with smiles, tears, love and beautiful music. Amy & Clint are quite a pair and there is not a doubt of the love they share.

Amy dreamed throughout her life of having her Bridal portrait taken by the beautiful stained glass window at her church. We were simply posing for a normal portrait with standard lighting and all of a sudden this beam came shining through the window. It was raining outside so this was not something expected. Amy's Grandfather had recently passed away and she shared with him growing up that she wanted this portrait "one day", we all stood there at that very second and felt the presence of her precious Grandfather, Sam.

Clint was a handsome Groom and very proud to be marrying Amy! He had his friends, nephews and other family there to support him. I am very happy I was able to befriend Clint and his family on this special occasion.

The wedding party looked stunning with their colors and flowers so summery and bright!

Amy & Clint enjoyed cutting their delicious cake. The Bridal cake adorned with their monogram and floral decor was beautiful! The Grooms cake was a hit with all their friends as it represented Clint's love of hunting.

I loved seeing a couple this genuinely happy, I know their life will be filled with laughter!

The Great Escape!

Amy's Uncle provided the get-away car and drove with pride. He owns several vintage automobiles and Amy chose this one for her wedding day. It absolutely completed the day to be a perfect one for the couple!

My Daughter, The Bride

It happened, the day I thought about for the past 26 years became a reality. My sweet Daughter, my baby became the most beautiful Princess Bride I've ever seen on June 12, 2010. For years you think about who the Groom will be that God has in store, you think about all the little fun things, the gown, the place, the time, and then everything is real.

In October of 2009 a young man came to our home and asked for our Daughter's hand in marriage. My Husband said he felt like he had been hit with a mack truck, but yet he knew this young man would be good to our girl, he would treat her so well, as parents we could not say no, so my Husband gave his blessing and then we had to be quiet for the next month until Jonathan decided the time was right to pop the question.

On Novemember 21, 2009, we were invited to hide in the bushes as Jonathan proposed to Melissa. It was a sweet surprise, very well planned and thought out. There was no way she could say anything but yes! I snapped photographs as I was requested to do so, friends hid with us and once the answer was given we popped out to say congratulations!

The next six months were a whirlwind as Mother of the Bride planning this beautiful wedding 300 miles apart from our Daughter as she lives in Tallahassee, FL and we live in Fayetteville, GA. I was most thankful for internet, cell phones, text messaging, sharing photo's by phone, technology made this task so much easier than it should ever be! We had idea's flying among us and yet both knew what this special Bride had dreamed of in her 26 years. As the Mother, I wanted to make certain every dream was fulfilled, nothing left out, this was her most important day of living! Frankly it was likewise very important to me as well.

Is this the dress?

YES! This is the one!

Missy's gown was very special to her and I as we found it the day we did. She simply wanted to add some custom features and only one special lady we knew we could trust. Miss Coleen was always the one that created and sewed our gowns as Missy grew up, but we truly thought she lived in South Florida and was so very ill that we did not know if she had survived, but fate brought our paths together after not seeing her in close to fifteen years! The store where we found the gown gave us their alterations lady phone number and card, I could not believe my eyes when the card had Coleen's name on it! God answered one more prayer.

We took my veil from my wedding thirty years ago into Miss Coleen and she "blinged" it up and made it just like Missy wanted it to be for her own wedding! My girl wore my veil for her something old!

I made this special collage to document the special moment.

Once the gown was ready we set up the date and found a southern home with all the dream details owned by friends and this is where we made the Bridal portraits! I took these for Missy, my Mom went with us to help and enjoy our day together. What a very special time it was that I'll treasure forever!

Missy chose the date using the same date as my parents wedding! We celebrated their 55th anniversary at the reception with a small cake for them as well. She also chose the colors, the kind of flowers, the attendants, the attire, the time, the place, the venue for the reception, the look of her cake, Jonathan at her side they worked through these details. Her choice of invitations was absolutely beautiful!

I designed the programs and put each one together to match the inivtations and keep her theme

I coordinated everything, designing the altar decor, putting together the rentals, creating strands upon strands of crystal beads to give that bling factor Missy wanted, but one thing was for certain in my mind, I needed help to set things up and take them down as we would be celebrating! I decided to run a craigslist add for a florist and decorator. Delighted to get one phone call, this lady felt she could not handle this large of a wedding, so she gave me a name of her friend and we set up a meeting to go over details. I drove to Tallahassee and we all met at the church, I had such a peace, God sent me the perfect lady, her twin sister and their team of florists to make this dream come true! Marilyn Granger of Southern Magnolia Wedding & Event Decorating & Planning entered my life to become a friend I'll never forget! We worked so well together, everything we put together, they created. After the months of planning and detail sharing our time had arrived to set things up. The altar was transformed into the most beautiful sight my eyes have seen. The crystal beads with the candlelight looked like water falls, the aisles were adorned with greenery, candles and crystals! I could never have been happier in my entire life and more proud, it was a setting that was like no other, simply put, made for a Princess!

The process is amazing to achieve the perfect look.

The attendants for the Bride wore chocolate brown gowns, the precious flower girls and bell ringers wore ivory dresses with pink sashes and pink floral head bands. The men wore black tuxedo's with ivory shirts, brown vests and ties, the ringbearers matched the men. Flowers were ivory and pink roses along with accents of greenery fern. The atmosphere was so beautiful as the violin, guitar and piano played the prelude, happiness was abundant among everyone that entered the Sanctuary. Soon, the time arrived for myself to be seated and it hit me, the tears flowed, I looked back at my Husband and he was having the hardest moment of his life knowing he had to give our baby girl away. No matter how much preparation you do, you are never prepared enough when that exact minute arrives. There is no way we as parents are every totally ready. Without a choice, the music continued and I had to take my seat. I watched the wedding party enter the aisles, taking their places with excitement and then the music stopped, it was quiet as the little girls skipped down the aisle ringing their bells announcing "Here Comes The Bride" over and over. How precious this moment was to see. As the organ and trumpet started, I stood and turned to see the most beautiful sight I have seen in my life. My Daughter on the arm of her Daddy, my Husband! A Princess, My Prince and all our friends and family standing there supporting us, it was really happening! They slowly made their way down the aisle and as they turned for the altar, my Husband reached out to take my hand and just give me that squeeze and he in turn his squeeze we both needed to get through this moment, this milestone in our lives. He did a wonderful job giving her hand to Jonathan's, we'll never really give her away, but we'll share her with him. One thing I know parents will all agree with me about is that.

There is a beautiful sight!

The ceremony was beautiful, it glorified God above! The music, the vows, the sand ceremony which was performed by my brother and Missy's Uncle, Dennis as he is a minister. It was just magnificent! Finally the announcement from Pastor Jerry, they are Husband and Wife, it is finished! Now, the breathing starts back and we know it is time to celebrate!

After the photography session in which I did not do myself, my precious cousin is a fabulous photographer and she took all our photogaphs for the big event! Jessica is just so talented, I can't wait to see them all! The professional photographs may be viewed or ordered at Photos by Jessica Lynn of Jackson, Ga. Other photographs contributed were gifted to the Bride & Groom from Allen Adams Photography of Tallahassee, FL as he is a friend of the couple. We are thankful to all the guests that have shared their photographs with us to have as keepsakes!

The couple were treated to a special ride in a 1960 Rolls Royce to the reception venue at the Capital City Country Club and as they entered the drive up to the club, they stopped with their wedding party to make some true southern portraits under the big swagging oak trees on the golf course, truly a setting like in a movie!

While waiting on the couple the guests were having "Tea time and Hors d'oeuvres", it was hot, but the Tallahassee Swing Band made it tolerable with their fabulous swing music! Finally the arrival of the couple and their party set the time for everyone to move into the Magnolia Room where the dining tables were all set for each guest to have a seat.

The cakes were beautiful, the centerpieces looked like focal points beyond our dreams, everything was perfect! There was a buffet dinner, it was delicious, the cakes were so moist and the laughter and love was abundant.

After dinner and cake, the time arrived for the couples first dance. My Niece Ashley played the keyboards and sang for them as the Bride & Groom danced together, it was a beautiful time. Then, Missy had her moment dancing with her Dad as the swing band played and sang "Daddy's Little Girl". Oh how touching it was! For the Groom and his Mother's dance, my nephew Shawn sang and played his guitar to make it so special for them. After the formal dances, Missy danced with her Grandfathers, and then everyone joined together to celebrate on the dance floor. Later they tossed the garter and bouquet on the dance floor to the "next couple" as tradition says.

As the couple prepared to leave for their special week of beginning their new life together, they changed into their going away outfits, and the sparklers were passed out as guests lined the walkway to bid them farewell.
The Rolls Royce awaited their run through the sparkles of love and off they went like an ending to a movie, the new journey has begun for them. With a lump in my throat I watched them leave and knew my life would not ever be the same, although blessed and now an addition to our family, I just knew my sweet little baby now had her turn to become what she always dreamed of. For at that moment I knew, dreams do come true!

Yes, after 26 years of thinking I would be prepared for her big day, that special moment, I must say, a heart of a Mother is never prepared, but you always go through and go forward as you know your little girls dream has come true!

The Recital

The Recital was absolutely beautiful! My Niece Ashley Rader performed like an Angel singing in Heaven. She is so gifted that you can sit and listen to her sing forever. Her College recital was held on May 14, 2010 at Gulf Coast Community College in Panama City, FL. I was very lucky to be there as I was only driving through town that day on my way to Tallahassee when my plans were changed about two hours before her recital was to begin. Thrilled I could be there, I dashed about getting my things together and plans made for the next day's photo shoot. Finally I could relax for a little while, so I joined my parents, brothers and the rest of the family for a great evening of music!

Ashley was impressive with her soprano voice, her forte's and breath control were amazing. Her different language's were intriguing and I will never know the words on some of the songs, but they had to be a fabulous message according to her facial and body movements. Accompanied by Elizabeth Godfrey Ford on the piano she presented "Aria, Batti batti, o bel Masetto by Mozart, "La Vie en rose" by Louis Guglielmi, among other pieces by Schubert, Yeston, Sondheim, Handel and Puccini. One song included a duet with a wonderful baritone joining her, Clinton McCormick did a great job with Ashley on "La ci darem la mano". She also included some awesome jazz songs with her Dad or my also known as my brother Billy on the guitar, her brother Shawn on the drums and Neil Gray played the electric upright bass, he did a great job as well. I had a few favorite selections, but "Fever" was incredible with that drum beat and smoothness of all working together to have that unity needed when performing live on stage! I especially loved "The Girl From Ipanema" as it is one of my favorites. The whole evening was incredible.

Ashley will have quite a road ahead of her as she is leaving to start a new path this fall. She will be attending Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA! She was accepted and will be departing in August from her family to begin this new adventure. I wish her well, I wish her much success and when she achieves those goals, I wish she remembers me, her little old Aunt that dearly loves her!

Special People - Special Day

Special People, Special Day!

I was invited to take photographs for the People First of Henry County Special Needs Easter Egg Hunt! This was my second year to be a part of the great event. The smiles you see, the laughter you hear as the fun and games thrill hearts of many is worth every minute of my time and anyone involved to take part in this. The crowd was estimated at around 300 or more plus volunteers! I had a special area at the Gazebo to let everyone meet the Easter Bunny while I made portraits for them. I must thank my precious Husband Chuck, for his time as he was a perfect Peter Cottontail! Our Daughter, Melissa came to assist him in walking and setting children on his lap and just to enjoy the day with us. The organization that puts this together is an amazing group. Connie Dodgen heads these special events up and puts things together like nobody I have ever seen. She deserves a gold star on a seat in heaven next to God! I appreciate her hard work and for inviting our family to be a part of this wonderful day! I look forward to next year already.

WHS Spectacular was Spectacular!

This past week I had an evening of photographing that was absolutely the most entertaining job I have had in quite some time. The WHS Spectacular performance by the Choral department was just that, Spectacular! The talent amongst this group of young people was totally breathtaking. I grew up in a musical family, performing in school performances, basically around a lot of talent. This made me so proud to see this many young people involved in singing, playing instruments, dancing and just enjoying the moment to entertain their audience. These photographs portray some of the fun that was had by all. Let me know what you think!

A Day of Beauty

The 3rd Annual Blaze's Masquerade Ball Pageant - February 6, 2010
I enjoyed a day of snapping photographs at a pageant in our local area with many precious smiles! These girls ranged in ages from the Tiny Miss division to the high school division of Miss Masquerade. Each girl shined with her beauty, her strengths, her personality and poise. I captured many stage and judging moments throughout the day and also was able to take posed portraits with my backdrop and studio equipment. The girls were all beautiful and so fun to work with. I am thankful to the powers that be of the Miss Masquerade Pageant for inviting me to be the photographer for this wonderful event! I look forward to working with you all again in the future.

The Proposal!

A most special day this was for this precious couple, but not just for them, also for myself and my Husband as this is our only Daughter!

Jonathan & Melissa became engaged on November 21, 2009 and we were invited by Jonathan to be there in person to capture the wonderful moment in their lives! he completely surprised her as you will see in this photo-journal of the day. The big event took place at Wakulla Springs, Florida. Jonathan along with a friend of his built a yard swing and set it up in the gazebo. With all the plans in place Jonathan walked Melissa to the swing to sit and swing together, then he dropped to his knee and popped the big question. She said Yes! After that moment, she saw us hiding out in the bushes and just screamed with joy as we live 300 miles from her and this was a great surprise to add to her big event!

An Awesome Family!

What an awesome family! The Lawrence Family had such fun at the beach photo session over the Thanksgiving holiday at Panama City Beach, FL! Mom Carolyn, Dad Tom and their six wonderful children, plus Grandchildren and Parents! All different personalities, all full of life and just a joy to be with.

Baby Noah

I love babies and enjoyed some very precious time photographing a precious new baby boy and his parents recently. Baby Noah was a fun photo shoot as he kept us on our toes with keeping him covered between takes as he became a human fountain! If you get what I'm saying, we went through a lot of towels on this two hour venture together. Noah's Daddy is the Fire Chief of his town, so notice the fun props we used to enhance the personality poses for Baby Noah. God has blessed this family with Noah and their lives are full of love and happiness which shows thoroughly in these beautiful portraits! Everyone Wins

This past weekend I enjoyed taking photographs for a special pageant. "Mr. & Miss Special Henry County" in McDonough, GA. What a wonderful day this was as the hearts were so full of joy with each special contestant in this pageant. I was not sure what to expect but at the same time knew the lady that set it up does so annually and she is first class. I got there and was so amazed at the participation, sponsors, silent auction, beautiful auditorium, first class lighting, sound, well known judges, entertainment, not one portion of anything was left out! There was no room left in the auditorium as it was a sold out crowd of 710 seats. A wonderful fund raiser and great memories for each family that is touched by this cause. Thank you to Connie Dodgen for asking me to help with photography, I thoroughly enjoyed it and considered it a privilege to be there.

This photograph is of myself with Judge and Entertainer, John Berry! He sang a few of his hits from the country music charts and was so kind.

A blushing Bride and a handsome Groom made for a most perfect day on May 23, 2009 as I photographed a gorgeous wedding! This Bride and Groom are special to me as I have known Celeste for about eleven years now and watched her grow into a wonderful young lady. She was radiant on Saturday as you can see in the pictures posted on my blog. I appreciated all their attendants and the kindness they had toward me in taking so many poses and photographs of this occasion. With 14 attendants plus the children in the wedding there was a lot of vocal use to place people in positions to get the right pose. The gown, the cake, the flowers, the dresses, the suits, everything was perfect and I know you will see that while enjoying these postings. Thank you Mr. & Mrs. Cross for selecting me to take your photographs! May God bless your marriage and future together.

FUN! EXCITING! A day filled with great laughter, I am describing a photo session I had with a beautiful young lady named Aria that is an upcoming Senior for the class of 2010! We captured her personality with different poses, outfits, childhood memories and she shined. This young lady has quite a future ahead fo her, she will attend the University of Georgia after she graduated High School. She sings, she acts, she is just very outgoing and loved by all. Time Travels Fast

After spending the weekend with our Daughter my mind continues to be overwhelmed at the rate of speed the years go by. You see, she is purchasing her own home, her first home without help, all on her own! What a milestone in her life, and ours. My husband which is her father is a certified residential inspector, so of course we drove to her place of choice for him to perform this inspection. We were so proud at her wise decision. In walking through, I remember back to our first home, she was just one year old and now we are walking through hers. I remembered all the hats, the dresses, the jewelry, the toys, and now she needs appliances, furniture and technical issues checked. Life is amazing, it travels by us at a high rate of speed very amazingly. With this thought I have a photo of a precious little one I took and while looking at it, I could only think it won't be long and she will be checking out her first home. I am thankful for all our memories and the moments we can capture to savor as time continues to travel, but through our photographs it can stand still.

I get so excited every time I see clients when they recieve their portraits from me after a photo session! I am all about smiles and happiness. I spent the past weekend with two different sessions and both were wonderful.

I photographed a precious little 2 year old girl that loved azalea's and the nuts that fell from the trees! Megan had so much fun with her little basket picking things up and putting them in the basket to carry. Her dress was of a floral motif and blended in with the beautiful azalea's that God blessed us with this spring.
